The popular Voltaic Solar Bags are getting a battery & panel upgrade, providing a more compact, powerful and flexible solution to charge your portable devices. The changes are as follows:

Voltaic Systems Battery Pack

1. New, lithium-polymer battery. The new battery is lighter and sleeker and simpler to operate. There is a 5V USB socket integrated into the battery and no voltage selector, making it a snap to use. It can also charge from a USB socket, including those on any computer.

2. Panels are now 6 Volts and 4.5 Watts instead of 10 Volts and 4 Watts: The Voltage output on the panel is now 6 Volts instead of 10 Volts and the power output of the bags has increased by 12%.

While we think this shift is mostly positive, there is a downside. The Backpack, Messenger and Converter will no longer be able to charge 7.2 volt batteries such as those in many DSLR cameras. Some car chargers designed for phones and small camera batteries will work, but this is not guaranteed. We are working on several options for DSLR users. In the interim, the Voltaic Generator will charge cameras and we will likely have some spare 10 Volt bags available if a customer is in need.
